Let’s Talk About It New Canaan

Let’s Talk About It New Canaan

More than 40 partners have joined together to launch “Let’s Talk About It New Canaan,” a local campaign to increase visibility and reduce stigma associated with behavioral health. The campaign coincides with the re-launch of the website, www.LetsTalkAboutItNC.org, which offers resources and information for New Canaan residents.

The ”Let’s Talk About It New Canaan” campaign will be visible year-round. Partners include a wide variety of organizations and partners continue to join. Many local residents have also volunteered their time to this effort, and are committed to keeping up conversation among friends and neighbors.

You can access the online webinar offering a quick guide on how to navigate the resources offered by the www.LetsTalkAboutItNC.org website by clicking below. The New Canaan Coalition Launches Anti- Vaping Campaign

The New Canaan Coalition is pleased to announce the launch of the 2021 substance abuse campaign, focusing on vaping. The campaign is utilizing a peer to peer model with educational material designed by New Canaan High School students to educate others about the dangers of vaping. New Canaan CARES’ Stacey Walker, who serves as the Coalition Coordinator shared, “We are using the language the students developed because they know best how to reach their peers and share this vitally important information.”

Community partners Dante’s, Joe’s Pizza, Pinocchio Pizza, and Vicolo Pizza & Trattoria will be using pizza boxes designed by high school students over Super Bowl weekend. Zumbach’s coffee cups will feature anti-vaping stickers that the Coalition’s Youth Advisory Committee designed. These stickers will also be featured on take out bags from a growing list of eateries including Club Sandwich, New Canaan Chicken, Tony’s Deli and CT Sandwich.

New Canaan CARES holds the grant and coordinates the Local Prevention Council (LPC). In CT, each municipality has a LPC composed of stakeholders from twelve sectors, whose goal is to increase public awareness of alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention with a primary focus of youth.

With gratitude and appreciation, I want to thank the NCHS health department for working with us and the students on this important campaign.

Thank you to our coalition members: Daniella Aris, Jayne Benton, Susan Bliss, Christine Brown, Laura Budd, Grace Burke, Jeff Deak, Mike Dinan, Jackie D’Loughy, Alexandra Gillespie, Ingrid Gillespie, Nicole Kolenberg Kristen Grzymski, Geoffrey Lambert, Susannah Lewis, Tucker Murphy, Leo Karl III, Judy Phillips, Joyce Sixsmith, Sara Schubert, Paul Reinhardt and Jennifer Zonis.
