Supporting Healthy Lifestyles, In New Canaan
New Canaan CARES strengthens community by raising awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering meaningful connections. Rooted in collaboration, our programs empower individuals and families to make informed choices and support one another.
Recent initiatives include our nationally recognized Speaker Series, the Local Prevention Council, targeted Community Outreach, and Leadership Training for local youth.
Community Speaker Series
Local Prevention Council
New Canaan CARES is the regionally designated resource for alcohol, tobacco, and other prevention efforts. Its coalition—made up of youth agencies, faith-based groups, town leaders, and community members—works together to coordinate prevention, education, and wellness programs.
In 2025, CARES joined forces with the Local Prevention Councils of Westport, Wilton, and Weston to secure a Regional Cannabis Grant—a united community initiative aimed at reducing cannabis use among youth and young adults. Through this partnership, we are providing families, schools, and local organizations with tools, resources, and education to promote well-being and strengthen community resilience.
